(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – M. Katherine “Katie” Varner has joined Hatcher Law Group as a family law attorney. She previously worked at the Firm as a paralegal before she was admitted to the North Carolina Bar.
Ms. Varner received her JD in 2015 and her BA in 2012 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While attending law school, Ms. Varner was a certified legal intern with the Civil Legal Assistance Clinic, where she assisted with matters such as workplace discrimination and landlord-tenant disputes. She also served in multiple legal internship positions, which included working under the Honorable William L. Osteen, Jr., Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. In this role, she performed legal research and various other tasks related to criminal and civil issues.
In addition to her internships, Ms. Varner was a member of Holderness Moot Court, winning the Region Four 2013-2014 ABA Client Counseling Competition. She was also a member of the Order of Barristers, served as an article and notes editor for the First Amendment Law Review, and received the Pro Bono Service Award during her final year of law school.
Ms. Varner will assist clients with a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, property distribution and domestic violence.
