Hatcher Law Group sponsored a breakfast fundraiser held at Bank of America Stadium for United Family Services through an organization, Men For Change. Men For Change is a group of men throughout the Charlotte community who encourage other men from all walks of life to speak out against domestic violence through fundraising and educational programs. The purpose of the event was to raise money for the battered women’s shelter in Charlotte. Hatcher Law Group has been involved with sponsorship of this event for the past six years, and the partners of Hatcher Law Group (J. Gregory Hatcher and Paul A. DeJesse, Jr.) also served on the steering committee for a number years. Attached below is the pledge taken by those who attend the fundraising breakfast.
AS A MAN FOR CHANGE, I PLEDGE:
Not to participate in relationship violence and not to tolerate it in other men. To take a leadership role in discouraging other men from Not to remain a silent bystander, as silence condones abuse. To challenge men who use sexist language and make degrading jokes or comments about women. To examine my own attitudes and beliefs about violence, power, control and entitlement. To talk with boys and young men about healthy and equitable attitudes and relationships. To be the husband, father, brother, co-worker, teammate, and friend who says:
